Living in The Time of Dying is an unflinching look at what it means to be living in the midst of climate catastrophe and finding purpose and meaning within it.
Recognising the magnitude of the climate crisis we are facing, independent filmmaker Michael Shaw, sells his house to travel around the world looking for answers. Pretty soon we begin to see how deep the predicament goes along with the systems and ways of thinking that brought us here.
It becomes clear that climate change is going to ruin our way of life but this then opens up a whole new set of questions: How did we get here? How do we choose to live and what actions make sense at this time? The people interviewed in the documentary, all highly regarded and well known spokespeople on the issue, argue it's too late to stop catastrophic climate change but in no way too late to regain a renewed life giving relationship with our world.

SUPPORTGROUP
This is a support group, where our intention is to be with our feelings about the climate / societal situation. Feelings about our predicament are still largely being denied and so, in our regular conversations, they can be very hard to contact or share. This can leave us both unmet and disconnected. Yet, these same feelings, expressed in the safety of community can bring us together. Sharing our grief and honest responses in this way is both healing personally and also helps us to play a stronger role in our communities.
We are offering monthly online support groups to build a solid community of like minded people. A group of people brave enough to lead the way in meeting the crises we are facing and so to be able to hold space for others.

COLLAPSE COUNSELLING
I am a firm believer in the necessity of meeting in communities to be with the many faces of grief in these times. Yet, as a trained trauma therapist, I also have a real understanding of the value and importance of working one on one.
Some may need the space to feel into what it is they want to give at this time. We all have our own unique gifts to offer, and landing in a sense of purpose as we move forward is so important. Others may need to give themselves the time and space to untangle old wounds and create a more resilient nervous system. In this way we can recover our vitality, even in the midst of all we are seeing, and become more available to life and others. Being able to respond with even a little more strength and kindness in times of heightened threat is a gift to all those we have contact with.
So, it isn't necessary that someone seeing me in this way has to work only with climate issues. I understand there's many griefs and wounds to work through. There is though a shared understanding of the reality of the global backdrop we are living in and that mutual recognition can be its own medicine regardless of the topic.
My costs are on a sliding scale according to income. If you are so called, please email me in the link below and we can set up a session.
Warmly
Michael Shaw
